Many
alarm companies today install proprietary systems.
This means the owner has no option when it
comes to choosing what alarm company will be
able to service and add to his alarm equipment.
In essence, you’re stuck
with them unless you want to replace your control
panel, keypads and possibly many other pieces
of equipment included in your system. While we
strive to keep our customers by giving excellent
service, we don’t want to keep our customers
by force; and therefore, Alarm Speciality uses
name brand equipment that is available to, and
easily maintained by other alarm companies if
the owner chooses.

In
today’s business environment, a security
system has become a necessity. Updated fire codes
are demanding increased levels of life safety
protection and in many cases a fire system is
no longer an option, but a requirement. How do
you keep up with what’s required, and how
do you find out what your options are? An
Alarm Speciality Systems Engineer will make a
personal visit to your business, discuss your
needs and what you want the system to do for
you, and then explain to you how the local code
requirements affect your situation based upon
your business location, and type of occupancy.
What
are some of your options?
A basic security system can provide limited
protection and may include door and interior
motion detection. More inclusive systems can
include window protection, and additional glass
break detection.
Alarm Speciality can incorporate fire alarm
equipment along with your burglary system. Our
installation teams keep up to date on the latest
requirements and techniques in order to provide
you the system suited to your specific needs.
As
a UL listed company under Fire Alarm Service – Local
Company, Alarm Speciality has been approved to
install UL fire alarm systems with contracted
UL monitoring. In order to receive this approval,
UL personnel inspected several of our installations;
our paperwork and field service techniques were
also evaluated.
Our systems are also capable of supervising
the arming and disarming of your security system.
Active supervision includes notifying you or
your representative when your alarm system is
not turned on (armed) or turned off (disarmed)
according to the schedule you have provided us.
With Passive supervision arming and disarming
signals are logged as received and a report is
generated monthly, providing you with a history
of the activity.
24
hour remote station alarm monitoring is available
over existing phone lines. Don’t have a
traditional phone line? Cellular monitoring is
also available. Cellular monitoring works over
a channel of the cellular telephone network that
is not used by cellular telephones. An additional
device wired to your alarm control panel transmits
alarm signals over this cellular network. In
either case, once your alarm signal is received,
our operators will contact the appropriate authorities.
For our UL fire alarm customers, Alarm Speciality
has contracted with a UL monitoring facility
to handle your monitoring.

There
are many reasons to consider installing an
alarm system in your home – peace of
mind, remote supervision, and protection. Many
insurance companies offer a discount on homeowner’s
insurance.
With
today’s technology, installing a
system in your home is easier than ever, and
there are many options. A hardwired system connects
the various pieces of your system with low voltage
wire. Typically this type of system is installed
so that no wires are visible. If hiding the wiring
is not an option, and based on your system design,
a wireless system can be installed. With a wireless
system, each detection device is powered by batteries,
and communicates with the system’s control
panel using radio frequencies. Many systems use
a combination of hardwired and wireless components.
An Alarm Speciality Systems Engineer will design
a system that will best suit your individual
needs.
Some things to think about: Do you want to use
your system while you are at home, or only while
you are away? Do you have pets? Are you away
from your home for extended periods of time?
Does a member of your household have a medical
condition? As you can see, there are many options
available for your consideration and convenience.
Panic and medical emergency buttons can be either
hand held, clipped to a belt, or worn as a pendant
or watch.
Keypads/Key
fobs. You can arm and disarm your system using
traditional keypads installed at strategic
locations, or you can carry or wear a wireless
arming/disarming key fob. Wireless
devices come in a variety of shapes, sizes and
styles, including wristwatches.
Fire protection can be added to your burglary
system through the addition of smoke and heat
detectors among other fire alarm initiating and
indicating devices. If you have non-electric
heating (such as gas and oil) or combustible
gas devices in your home, you should also know
that carbon monoxide detectors are available
and can be monitored as well.
